What is a certified / officially verified translation

A certified (court-verified) translation is a translation that has the same legal validity as the original document. It is produced by a sworn court translator and includes a certification clause, an official stamp and the translator's signature.

Such translations are used for official purposes, especially when dealing with authorities, courts, notaries or foreign institutions.

When is a certified translation required

A certified / officially verified translation is generally required when a document is submitted to:

  • government authorities and offices (registry offices, foreign police, ministries),
  • courts and administrative authorities,
  • notaries,
  • schools and universities (recognition of qualifications, admission procedures),
  • foreign institutions,
  • banks, insurance companies and employers, if required.
